I wanted a cat…but not for diner

I experienced cultural shock walking down the street in my home country, with one of my friends from Ghana.

We passed by a fat tabby cat after which my friend smiled and said: “That cat looks tasty!”. Of course I didn’t take this seriously until I made a recent move to Ghana and told my husband I wanted to get a cat. He told me : “chances are if the cat wonders out of the house and doesn’t come back quickly, someone has had it for dinner! “

Now I’m a proud owner of a small maltese poodle and have no intentions of owning a cat
I might loose to food.

I must say though I was told these practices are not very common in the city.
